A user manual for yourself? I first heard of this concept from my spouse. And then I found the New York Times article that introduced this. I was intrigued.
Here’s my user manual. This is a one-slide template that contains four panels:
- What makes me glad 🙂
- What makes me sad 😦
- How I collaborate
- How I communicate and would prefer to be communicated
There are several templates. Some templates include Myers-Briggs and other test results. I usually share a separate slide that includes these test results and more information in the style of a user persona slide. In addition, here are Adam Grant’s, Claire Hughes Johnson’s, and Julie Zhuo’s templates. Use one that works for you.
Keep it to one page or one slide so others can process it fast.
PS: Check out more articles on building products. I write to pay it forward and to sharpen my thinking.
